FAQ

Woman with gun

1. Do we have to role play?

NO! Unlike many cheap murder mystery companies, who use far fewer actors because they force their guests to play the parts, Murder One use up to eight professional actors on each event. These actors form the suspects in the murder mystery and you are free to get involved up to a level you feel comfortable with. The more extrovert and outgoing in your group will pursue the suspects, interrogating them face to face and challenging them about their motives, alibis and relationships etc, whilst others are free to watch the action from a discrete distance, eavesdropping on characters conversations and studying evidence in the incident room.

2. Numbers?

due to the interactive nature of the events, we recommend a minimum guest size of 25 and a maximum of approximately 140. If you have a party of less than 25, feel free to book onto our 'public murders' which are open to individuals, couples and small groups.

3. Where?

We have no set venues, enabling you to choose when and where to stage your murder mystery. Previous clients have staged their murder mystery parties at venues including hotels, castles, museums, trains, cruises, schools, church crypts, offices, clubs, farms, marques, restaurants and other social venues. We are used to operating in just one function room/performance space, and do not require any 'stage area', or space for scenery, etc.

4. Duration?

We recommend a typical murder mystery night last approximately two and a half - three hours. Teambuilding events can last longer, and can be evening events over a meal, or daytime events. We also stage 'over-nighters' that would start prior to an evening meal and conclude the following morning, or full weekends. A Murder Mystery Weekend would commence with dinner on the Friday, and conclude late Saturday night. On Sunday morning, those that survive are able to breakfast with the actors, meeting them 'out of character'. On the Saturday we would allow 'free time' from the mid-morning until early evening, so that guests may leave the hotel to explore local areas of interest etc, knowing they are not missing anything integral to the plot. The action will then re-commence prior to dinner on the Saturday evening.

5. Cost?

each event is negotiated individually, with the main factors being location, date, duration and number of participants.
